Repetition

Repeating words and phrases in dictation practice is really helpful. It's not a mistake - it's done on purpose. For example, you should hear "in the town" (six times) in this passage; "the town" (seven times) and "in the" (six times). Other common repeats will be "of the" (four times), "have been" (three times), and words like "their bikes" or "the community" (three times each).

This repetition is good for a few reasons:

*It helps you get better at writing what you hear.

*It makes your brain and hand work together more smoothly.

*It improves your listening skills.

When you practise dictation often, your brain starts to expect these repeated words. This helps you write faster and more confidently.

It's like training your brain and hand to work as a team.

Why 110 WPM?

110 WPM might seem fast, and it is! But remember, growth happens outside your comfort zone. This speed is achievable with practice and determination.

How to Approach This Challenge

  1. Start Slow: Use it as a prepared dictation. Work on individual outlines or sentences at your own pace.
  2. Build Speed Gradually: Practise with shorter bursts at full speed, gradually increasing duration.
  3. Focus on Accuracy: Speed without accuracy isn't useful. Concentrate on writing correct outlines.
  4. Analyse and Improve: After each session, review your work. Identify areas for improvement.

Tips for Success

Remember, revision isn't about perfection. It's about consistency and pushing your skills to new heights. Embrace the challenge – your future self will thank you!
