The Rewards of Being Assertive

An 80 WPM mock is good practise for those looking to take their 60 exams.

As we note in the Exam Prep Tips section: "...many shorthand experts advise you should be comfortable with speeds about 20 WPM ABOVE the exam speed you will sit for in order to offset test-day nerves and/or to handle unknown vocabulary."

This exam focuses on the "disjoined" W that says Wood (Would), Wide, Ward and/or Word and helps to reinforce the theory originally discussed in Let's Love Teeline Together Beginners Series 3.

There are loads of good word groupings in this one and finally, after the dictation itself, Jo wraps up with two high speed drills at 160 WPM to get your hand moving. These drills are really good even if you are not at this speed (or even anywhere close to it).

For example:

1. You can simply trace over the outlines.

2. You can attempt to take down a single sentence (and when you do that, add another) and/or

3. You can listen and take down just the words that end in -WOOD, -WARD, -WORD and/or -WIDE.

If you prefer audio-only dictation, you can find these on our SoundCloud page.
