Usually the first stumbling block with beginners, the vowel indicators can cause confusion.  So it's a good idea to refresh them.  We write vowel indicators in words that begin with a sounded vowel (for example "it") or end with a sounded vowel (for example "coffee").  We write the indicators "down" where possible and "up" only when necessary.
